Clovis, NM—United Way Volunteer Action Center is excited about a new collaborative project that will engage our youths in volunteer service. Children demonstrate the greatest passion for ‘giving back and making a difference’ in our society. We simply need to create such opportunities for them to do so. What better way than to serve their needs through service to the community?

In collaboration with Matt 25 and Clovis Community Garden, the Volunteer Action Center is organizing a Spring Break Youth Volunteer Camp for 6th, 7th, and 8th graders. The project will provide the opportunity to engage in serving local community needs, while also promoting ‘a healthy lifestyle’ for themselves. With the help of our experienced gardeners, children will learn how to create and manage a garden, and the importance of healthy food consumption and daily physical activity as the foundation for good health. The community at-large will benefit from ‘their seeds’ at harvest time.

United Way VAC is asking parents to ‘sign-up your middle school kids’ who don’t need to be bored over the spring break. We are also asking for community volunteers to help with this project. It will be fun, educational, and healthy.

Please sign-up at www.VolunteerENM.org and join us at the Matt 25 Hope Center on March 28th – March 30th from 8a – 12p. For more information, please contact the VAC at 575-769-2103 (ask for Opal).
