With the return of the High Plains Women’s EXPO this year, the Clovis/Curry County Chamber of Commerce is introducing its Clovis Rocks! Mixed Media Art Competition. It is a welcome to all local artists and creatively minded people to participate and show off their skills.

Merchant Kitty, our sponsor for the competition, will be holding a Pre-Paint event on July 21 at 6 p.m. They are located at 1614 1/2 N Main St. in Clovis. All ages and all skill ranges who are wanting to enter the competition can come and create a one-of-a-kind masterpiece! Light refreshments, paint, and canvas will be provided, and you are welcome to bring any extra supplies you want to use such as glitter, jewels, scrapbook paper, ribbon, etc. Charlotte Crowder will be offering guidance to our guests who would like any extra inspiration.

The Clovis Rocks! Mixed Media Art Competition is among many exciting events and competitions that will be taking place at the High Plains Women’s EXPO. There are many different events for community members from all different art disciplines. There will be a Yard Art competition being hosted by Hamiliton’s Providence Garden, as well as a Battle of the Brushes for those interested in cosmetology and hair styling. With the Clovis Rocks Mixed Media Art Competition, though all forms of art will be welcomed, it is encouraged for artists to think three dimensionally, adding different aspects to the canvas such as feathers, beads, or ribbons.

There is a $5 dollar fee to participate in the competition. There will be three different awards focused on three different aspects of the art received. There will be a prize for the “Best of Show”, “Most Rockin’”, and “Most Creative”. The deadline to submit your artwork is July 31, 2017. Those who are wishing to attend the Pre-Paint party July 21 should RSVP to the event at the Clovis/Curry County Chamber of Commerce by calling (575) 763-3435. Applications for the contest are attached and can also be picked up at the Chamber during business hours along with the supplied canvases.
