The theme for the 2018 Curry County Fair is “Tried and True” with the feeling that the Curry County Fair is like your favorite pair of blue jeans – everything feels just right when you are at the fair. The fair has been in Curry County for 98 years so just like your favorite pair of jeans we are relaxed, familiar, and something to look forward to!

On Friday and Saturday night, Monster Truck Thunder will be at the Curry County Mounted Patrol Arena to give you a night of fire and thrills! Big Blown Monster Trucks, Tuff Trucks, and even Monster Truck Rides – what’s not to love?!
Join us on the concrete slab for the Great American High Dive show featuring springboard and tower diving, The Human Torch Fire Dive, and a variety of comedy acts! The highlight of the show will, of course, be the high dive from 80 feet in the air!

For all of the music lovers in Curry County, Thursday will be Tejano night inside the Curry County Events Center. Taking the stage will be AJ Castillo with Los Garcia Brothers opening. AJ Castillo is a Latin artist known for his unique accordion sound and style and his energetic performances. Castillo started playing the accordion at the age of 10 after being introduced to the accordion by his grandfather. Los Garcia Brothers have long been known for their colorful zoot suits, feather decorated fedoras, and gritty conjunto sound. In 2013, Los Garcia Brothers were inducted into the Tejano R.O.O.T.S. Hall of Fame. Los Garcia Brothers continue to travel throughout Texas and play alongside other bands such as Grupo Vision, Grupo Vida, and Solido.

Immediately following the Junior Livestock Auction on Friday night, Stateline will take the stage. Stateline is considered by many to be one of the great upcoming bands from the Eastern New Mexico/West Texas area; having won first place at the local and state level during the 32nd Annual Texaco Country Showdown. Join us on Friday night at the Curry County Events Center for “A little bit of country.. A little bit of rock & roll.. and a whole lot of fun”!

For Country Music Night on Saturday, Koe Wetzel will be opening for Sam Riggs. Koe Wetzel and his band are rapidly gaining momentum in the Texas music scene. They bring a strong mixture of southern rock energy and East Texas charm. Koe Wetzel’s album, “Noise Complaint” was released in 2016 and the band has already hit the studio to work on their sophomore album. Koe continues to sell out venues all across Texas and shows no signs of slowing down. Taking the stage after Wetzel is Sam Riggs. Riggs is a wild live performer, an inveterate risk-taker and an enthusiastic adventurer. He brings a rock infused sound to his brand of country with influences like Garth Brooks, Foo Fighters, George Jones, and Blink 182. To date, he’s racked up more than 2.2 million streams on Spotify and over 600,000 views on YouTube. Sam Riggs also picked up the Texas Regional Radio Award in 2016 for Top New Male Vocalist.

Before coming over to the Curry County Events Center for the concerts, make sure you stop at the midway and ride all the rides you can! Then head to our food court for a fresh squeezed lemonade and a smoked turkey leg. Save room for a Texas twister and a funnel cake.
The fair will, as always, be full of livestock such as goats, pigs, sheep, dairy cows, and so much more. The commercial barn is full again this year, so stop by and visit some of our local businesses to see what they have to offer. Head over to the Home Arts Building to see all of the wonderful arts and crafts and baking that is proudly submitted by people from all over Curry County. Stop by the Ag/Community Building for information on community, non-profit organizations, and other youth programs from around Clovis and Curry County.

As usual, The Plateau Great American Turtle Race will take place on Saturday morning followed by other youth day activities. Southwest Cheese is hosting the “Cut the Cheese” contest and the Truck Pull will be in the parking lot of the Curry County Events Center – both of these events also on Saturday! Other annual events such as the Old Timer’s Luncheon, Little Miss Curry County Pageant, Salsa Contest, Team Roping, Open Horse Show, Military Appreciation Night, Talent Show, Little Buckaroo Rodeo, and Pet Costume Contest will also be happening.
